Abstract:
In this thesis, state-space modeling approach is applied to a complete planar Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) system. Several simulations of the dynamic system have been performed for 400°C to 800°C as operating temperature. In addition, the results of the simulations are compared with experimental results obtained at Fuel Cells and Energy Laboratory at Boğaziçi University. The validity of the model is checked through these comparisons. In this study, the performance of a planar SOFC system is investigated on basis of simulations obtained on a MATLAB® software platform by using dynamic modeling approach. This study allows us to observe influence of various material parameters on the operation of the planar SOFC and to determine the limiting factors of mechanism considered. In addition, the model supports the interpretation of the experimental results obtained at Fuel Cells and Energy Laboratory at Boğaziçi University.
