dc.description.abstract In Yusuf Atılgan’s fiction, the theme of evil emerges as an independent, self regulated and purposeful category. Departing from the established morality, tradition and laws of social contract, Atılgan’s fiction generates a very consistent malicious narrative in its own right through the treatment of evil. With the integrity of value established at the level of narrative, evil emerges as an internal fact of both the stories and novels persons and the world in which they live. In this thesis, in order to show this, I will first discuss the notion of “body” in Atılgan’s fiction and the way fictional characters deviate from the established moral norms. The notion of apathy, which dominates the narrative of ‘nonmoral’, and the related lustful eroticism will be further discussed in this regard. I finally consider the continuity in Atılgan’s fictional works in which self-evolving evil exist.
