dc.description.abstract The main aim of this thesis is the Nation Party. The most important characteristic of the party is its being the first real political opposition. Although it’s said that the Democrat Party was the first real political opposition, neither the establishers of the party nor the establishment period of the Democrat Party had ever represented the free will and the natural progression. It had been formed from the RPP memebers in response to the demand of opposition. Right this time, the Nation Party had become to scene as a party whom the RPP and the DP mutually was opposed to. It was representing the different styles, methods and ideas. Because of the characteristics of the time that it was established, the NP did not have any clear and specific definition of its opposition, however it was very clear that the NP gathered all the real possible opposing ideas of its time under the name of the same political party and the party always follwed an indirectional and closed way to declare its ideas. Even the natural founder of the NP Marshal Fevzi Çakmak faced to different slanders from being communist to fundemantalist or rebellion. Therefore, it is clearly understandable that the followers of Marshal, after his death, could never declare their ideas as himself as well. But the success of the party is very clear from its fast progression, its success in the election and from the total opposition to this small opposition party itself. The NP couldn’t declare the real religious beliefs of the majority of the citizens of The Turkish Republic eventhough it was one of its important policy. They couldn’t explain their religious ideas even with a very basic sayings. Apart from this basic sayings, they sometimes had been charged as communists and other times very oppositely had been charged as fundemantalists. Both of these accusations had been produced for the same group of people and finally the NP had been abolished by the accustaion of covered fanaticism agenda. If we observe the right parties of today, the NP is the beginning of the opposition consists of the all right ideas. The abolition of the NP and the process of this period show us the real and clear ideas of the main actors of the establishment time of the Turkish Republic about the opposition. The reason of the absence of the satisfactory information about this seed opposition has the same root and story with the reason of its abolition. By this thesis, it was intended to make a general study to reveal; how The Turkish Republic had been established with its new values, how the opposion of today had been matured, how the Turkish Citizen’s political and religious ideas had been formed, and the Nation Party was studied with this respect.
